Managers On A Mission Now Offering Scholarship Through Generous Sponsors

Minneapolis, Minnesota October 16, 2013—Managers On A Mission (MOAM) is excited to welcome three new supporters of its rapidly growing nonprofit. The athletic equipment supply company, Texon Towel, has agreed to sponsor a $500 scholarship that is being made available to student managers of all athletic programs currently supporting MOAM. These student managers will be given a free copy of the book The Jersey Effect to write an essay on for the scholarship thanks to author Darrin Gray and the organization called Herma’s Readers.

The scholarship will be awarded to one student manager for the Spring 2014 semester following the review of a reflection essay of The Jersey Effect. Author of the book Darrin Gray offered the books to MOAM at a discount in order to make them available for all student managers, and the organization Herma’s Readers, which is founded by the Virginia Tech head football coach Frank Beamer, made a generous donation of $1000 to purchase the books.

The scholarship is an amazing opportunity for MOAM to give back to their supporters. They are currently working with the coaches and support staff of 35 different college athletic programs and 5 NFL teams who have donated their personal items to support the cause. MOAM is hoping that the book, The Jersey Effect, will be an inspiration for student managers to align their love of sports and Christ, and to recognize the platform they have in their field to help others. It is a rare scholarship opportunity being offered exclusively to student managers across the nation.

Managers On A Mission is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization founded by Auburn University Football Equipment Manager Drew Boe and three other former student managers Ryan Wieland (MN Gophers Basketball), Chris Herkenhoff (Notre Dame Football), and Chad Atherton (Virginia Tech Football). MOAM’s collects money and apparel donations to support mission trips to Africa, Student Manager led service projects throughout the U.S., and to develop the future leaders of sports.
