Returning to Zambia

Acts 20:24 (ESV) - But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

I’ve never been at such a loss of words. It truly is so difficult to put into words what these past 2.5 to 3 weeks have meant to me. But God is good! What an incredible opportunity and blessing to be called back to Zambia this summer. I have had an absolutely incredible time back at Rafiki Village Zambia and cannot believe we are already nearly the end of Week 3! I have been blessed with an incredible team of young, strong, committed, and loving future leaders of sport, and we have been surrounded by some of the sweetest, most caring and thoughtful kids. From the first night we walked in the dining hall, everyone has been so welcoming and expressed their gratitude for us coming.
Our days have been filled with football, soccer, basketball, and volleyball, along with devotions, laughter, prayer, and love. We had the chance to see the city of Lusaka, have sleepovers with the kids, and even host our very own “Zambia’s Got Talent.” I continue to be amazed with what such amazing hearts these kids have, and could not be more proud of them for the growth and maturity I have seen in them from a year ago. It’s been fun to hear the stories they have, and the moments they remembered from last year. They teach me something new about life and about myself every day.
Last year I decided to sponsor two kids at the Village- Dennis and Emmanuel S. These two are always on my mind. I’ve been blessed to be able to write to them and hear back from them; I get letters year around, updates on them, and artwork. Getting to spend three more weeks with them seemed to be a dream I would never achieve, but to see God’s plan unfold for me, and reunite us has been so surreal.
It’s hard to begin to think about leaving them again, but I rejoice knowing the Lord has been too good to me for allowing me to come back and serve Him here in Zambia. Everyone here has made Rafiki Village Zambia seem like another home for me, they’ve given me another family to call mine. This has been special and I’m forever thankful…

God Bless and Go Lady Vols,

Caleb Currier
