Since setting foot into the Rafiki village in Mzuzu, Malawi I’ve realized the impact that we MOAM’s can make here in these children’s lives. But the impact isn’t one sided, our team leader Seth Ralston told us before we arrived that we’d adore the children immediately and that’s what happened. They’re well versed and immersed in the word studying the Bible two times a day, while also learning life skills like being able to do their own laundry, food preparation, and building relationships because there are 100 kids that live here whom they see as their brothers and sisters.
Before all of the sports sessions we have to teach a devotional to the kids. My topic was purpose and I used Proverbs 19:21 to get my message across. Since then the kids have embraced that verse which states that “The human mind may devise many plans, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established.” They’ve communicated with me how purposeful their actions have been since then with each other, their mamas, and also their relationship with the Lord. I’m excited to continue building relationships and memories with these kids who are full of life and hope which as I stated before has improved my mindset seeing how they react in the face of adversity.
