Malawi Update- Allison Brummer

My first week here in Malawi has been amazing. After the first day here in the Rafiki village I knew that the next three weeks would be amazing. The first week has been so rewarding in many different ways. Throughout this week we taught basketball and it was amazing to see how well the kids were able to learn the skills that were being taught. The kids are always asking us questions and wanting to know more and more about us. I was also able to share my testimony at girl’s night, along with giving any advice that the girls needed. Every night we are encouraged to go to the nightly devotionals and this is where I have seen the most personal growth. I have been asked to lead devotionals in some of the cottages and this has put me outside of my comfort zone.

In scripture, Joshua 1:9 states to be strong and courageous and do not be afraid of discouraged for the lord your God will be with you wherever you go. This verse has stood out to me this past first week. God has placed me outside of my comfort zone on this trip and this verse brings me peace knowing that the Lord is with me wherever I go and with Him I have the strength to get through anything. I am excited to see what God has planned for me for the next three weeks!!
